THE COLOR MARSH

12″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Omega Bond

I took a piece of Omega Bond and mushed it down in the colors of paint on my studio floor that were left over while making a different painting.  I let it dry and added the grid and lines. I think it looks like a marshy area near a pond or lake.

OKI ROCK

24″ x 36″ Sharpie on Canvas

This kid was rockin’ out on a guitar while I photographed him at the Ryukyu Mura in Okinawa, Japan.  I don’t know what he was playing, but he was awesome!  I wish I had half of the musical talent he had, but I can make art so I combined our talents into this piece.  To make this one I broke open Sharpie markers and took out the ink casing that is inside.  Then I frayed the ends of the casings and used them like paint brushes.  After that I went back in and touched up the rough edges with other Sharpies that were still all together.

TAN BACKGROUND

24″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Acrylic

Tanning is not good for you unless it’s part of a painting.  I feel like I’m running out of ideas for names for my paintings that I use circles in.  That could be a problem since it is kind of my thing.  I guess I’ll just have to get more creative with the titles as I go along.  Or maybe ask you guys for more help…

LOOK FOR YOURS

Digital Image of Drawing and Photo

Life is a gift.  These words are hidden in the face of this drawing.  The words “If you know what life is worth, you will look for yours on earth” are also hidden in this drawing.  Can you see them?  Here they are.  I am very thankful for everything I have been blessed with in my life.  Being able to enjoy my family and friends. Having the skills to create art.  Taking the time to travel and see other parts of the world.  Everything in life has its purpose and finds its reason.  I have no regrets.  Thank you all for the continued support.  <3 mijumi

mijumi Pollock

8″ x 10″ Mixed Media on Paper

Most people think that anyone can do what Jackson Pollock did as an artist.  I agree that they think they can do it, but disagree that they actually can.  Yeah, you can make something the same way he did, but can you get people to embrace it the way he did?  Can you produce different ideas in the same style the way he did?  Can you use the right colors?  Can you work this way day in and day out and make one painting look different than the next?  Jackson Pollock was a genius… deal with it.  I just wanted to bite his style for a minute to see what it was like.

TOOTINBACHER’S KIWI

10″ x 10″ Mixed Media on Paper

My friend Nick’s (Tootinbacher) favorite fruit is kiwi.  There are a few slices of kiwi in this painting floating around trying to get their seeds back.  Help us Tootinbacher… you complete us.  We love you.  Don’t eat us… no… no…  Okay this is getting weird.

SIMPLE LIVING

4″ x 5.5″ Inkjet Print over Sheet Metal

I haven’t posted any photos yet and thought this would be a good place to start.  Some of you may recognize this photo from our (Nicole & me) Costa Rica trip.  I made a print on clear vinyl and applied it to a piece of sheet metal.  It gives it a vintage feel which I love.  I just want to sit in that chair with a coffee and a book and relax for the rest of the morning.

ONE

10″ x 10″ Mixed Media on Paper

Usually I don’t have a plan while I’m painting, but this time I did.  Then when I thought I was following the pattern I wanted to make I noticed something.  I made a mistake.  Can you find it?  I guess it adds character to it.  Without the mistake it would just be a pattern. Click here to see the ONE.

RASTAMAN VIBRATIONS

24″ x 48″ Mixed Media on Wood

Rastaman Vibrations… Positive!  I felt like this title was an appropriate name seeing how I’ve got the Rasta colors (green, yellow, red) in it and they seem to be vibrating out.  The Rastaman is casting his spell of positive vibes to all… negative thinking.. don’t you waste your thoughts!

MS. GARCIA

8.5″ x 11″  Digital Image of Drawing and Background

This is something new I’m trying.  Every once in a while I’m going to check out my fans pages and see if there is anything I can grab ideas from.  This is my first attempt at it from a profile picture.  Thank you Ms. Garcia for the inspiration.  If you’re reading I hope you enjoy this.

CRAYOLA MELT

12″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Omega Bond

Ah… I opened a brand new box of Crayola Crayons and got ready to make an old school crayon drawing on paper.  The smell of crayons remind me of being 5.  Crayons are where almost every child starts in the art world.  Crayons can be used for more than just drawing.  I was going to draw something, maybe next time.  Melting the crayons down seemed like the right thing to do.

3 COLOR SPLATTER

18″ x 18″ Mixed Media on Omega Bond

3 Color Splatter is a little test I was doing with spray paint that I thought ended up looking kind of cool.  The “canvas” was from a mess up at work and still has vinyl lettering on it.  I was planning to add more to it, but I didn’t want to ruin the mess.

CIRCUS DRIPS

32″ x 36″  Mixed Media on Wall Panel

Sometimes when a painting gets a name it may not make sense to anyone but the person who created it.  For some reason the name Circus Drips was the perfect title for this piece.  I have no real reason other than when I see these colors I think circus.  Watch out for the clowns Michele.
