AGAINST THE CURRENT TRIPTYCH
(3) 18″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Wood
They all look the same, but they’re not. This is my first shot at a triptych. Not too bad, but I’ve got some ideas for something different. Do you have any?

SKELOFLOWERS (SOLD)
24″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Wood
Like my earlier post of Explosive Flower Field, Skeloflowers is a mini fireworks show mixed with flowers. The white reminds me of a skeleton or an x-ray. Originally there was no white paint on this and I was going to sell it that way, but it was not finished in my mind. I couldn’t do it. Now that it is finished I think it is ready for it’s new home.
UGLY
18″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Canvas
U-G-L-Y, you ain’t got no alibi, you ugly, what what, you ugly. I could not get this out of my head while I was painting this. I was going for ugly, really ugly. I think I nailed it, but I kinda like it though. Is it really ugly? What do you think?
LOOKING DOWN
8.5″ x 11″ Ink on Lined Paper
Drawing in morning meetings at work is a good place to get new ideas. I know I was supposed to be taking notes, but all I could come up with was this. I like to draw on lined paper. It lets me use the lines as guides while laying down my own lines. Next meeting I’ll try and take better notes… I mean make a better drawing.
WAVE
12″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Canvas
Being a pisces I am a water lover. Being in CT I do not get to go in the water very much. The shower does not count. I need to be near water and now I can be all the time, in a way. Maybe a series of waves and surf pieces will get me into the one gallery I would really love to be in.
ROCKA
Digital Image of Drawing & Photo
Who is that? Is that you? Is it me? Anyone that draws faces a lot will encounter these questions at some point. Right Kev? I love to draw faces. Not real faces, just faces that pop into my head. Maybe they are a part of my subconscious or something, but they always keep coming up and they speak to me. Rocka is one of them and is set over a photo that I took of a concrete wall. I’m sure there will be more of these to come.
NITROGEN AMMONIA
12″ x 18″ Mixed Media on Acrylic
Once in a while (very, very rarely) at the sign shop we make a mistake. The mistake gets tossed into the trash and left for the dump. That is until I go dumpster diving and rescue that poor little mistake and give it purpose. Nitrogen Ammonia has vinyl lettering beneath its painted blue surface. Can you see all the words?
mijumi LIFE T
Mixed Media on Fabric
Sometimes it’s not enough to have your art hanging on the wall. Sometimes you want to show it to the world in a different way. Why not wear it? The mijumi Life T is one of two shirts I made and sent to my brother Matt (click here for a Matt story) for Christmas. Hey, I have to have some sort of representation down south.
THE PATTERNS (GIFTED)
8.5″ x 11″ Markers on Watercolor Paper
I’ll make something with circles. No, how ’bout lines or squares. No. I don’t know. Maybe some fades and checker boards. This is what the conversation in my head sounded like until I just started using them all. The Patterns is a mash up of… well, patterns.
MEDITATION
24″ x 36″ Vinyl on Metal & 8.5″ x 11″ Ink on Paper
Metallic vinyl and sheet metal. Not exactly the two best words to describe relaxation. I wanted to try and make something very soothing out of some things that are not soothing at all. It started from a drawing I made while in Japan. It has transitioned over to this piece here in the states. I heard it might be moving onto someone’s body in the near future… stay tuned.
YELLOW DRIPS
24″ x 36″ Aerosol on Mirror
You won’t be able to see yourself in this mirror. Well, you might be able to if you are on something. Then this painting could get really interesting for you. Yellow Drips is what it sounds like. It’s dripping spray paint set up in a specific way with a touch of an empty paint can for the circles. There are circles in there… I think… or maybe I’m drippin’.
CHEWBAFOOT HUNTING
8.5″ x 11″ Mixed Media on Watercolor Paper
It’s simple mathematics really. Chewbacca + Bigfoot = Chewbafoot. The Chewbafoot must hide high up in the trees to avoid humans and keep their anonymity. People claim to have seen one before, but no hard evidence exists. “Yeah I seen one. I seen one just the other day. Musta been ’bout 8 feet tall. Fast too. Faster than Dale Jr. in a high speed POlice chase,” said one resident.
EYE of the STORM
48″ x 48″ Mixed Media on Canvas
In the eye of the storm through the holes in my head. Black and white mixes pulling on threads. The good and the evil tugging at me. The internal fight over who I should be. A darkness a chaos hovering up above. Kicking and screaming, give me a shove. Into deep black in the eye of the storm. How long will this last, will I be reborn? When this madness all ends and I see the white light. I’m grabbing and clawing, fighting the good fight. Head raised up high and breaking on through. I know who I am… and what I should do.
SOPHIA’S WORLD
8.5″ x 11″ Marker on Watercolor Paper & 8.5″ x 11″ Watercolor on Paper
Sophia’s World is inspired by my 4 year old niece Sophia (Sophie). With my collection of Sharpie & Prismacolor markers I tried to put my own twist on Sophie’s creation. When my version was presented to her she simply asked, “why he do that?” I think she felt kind of ripped off. I thought it was a cool idea, but I’ll have to check with Sophie first next time. Mine is the one on the left, in case you were wondering.
