3 BIRDS

18″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Canvas

Rise up this mornin’. Smiled with the risin’ sun. Three little birds Pitch by my doorstep. Singin’ sweet songs. Of melodies pure and true. Sayin’, “this is my message to you-ou-ou:”  Singin’, “don’t worry about a thing. ‘Cause every little thing gonna be alright.”

THE VOODOO IN ME

18″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Canvas

I painted this as a gift to my dad for his b-day and hope it’s not creepin’ him out at night hangin’ on the wall.  This might be the strangest pictures of one of his sons that he’s ever had.  That’s right, I said, “pictures of one of his sons.”  You couldn’t tell that this is a self portrait?  Maybe you need to get the voodoo in you too…

ROB MACHADO

24″ x 36″ Mixed Media on Wood

Rob Machado is not just some “surfer dude” who hangs out in the water all day getting stoked on waves man.  He is a person that cares about the environment and helping people.  His foundation provides funding for educational programs focused on helping children understand their contribution towards a healthy earth (RMF).  So, next time you think that these guys are just a bunch of beach bums, think again.  Most of them care about this planet we live on and are trying to help preserve it.

RAP GOD  (SOLD)

48″ x 48″ Mixed Media on Wood

Is there a Jesus?  Is there a God?  Is there nothing?  I like to believe that there is some sort of higher power out there.  I’m not sure who or what it is or what to even call it, but I like the sound of God.  I like the religious stories that have been passed down through time.  I don’t think Lil’ Wayne is Jesus or God, but who am I to say.  What if God is in all of us at some time or another?  What if he/she just jumps from one body to the next?  Maybe that is how people become “God-like”.  Maybe that is when people actually reach their full potential.

RAINBOW WARRIORS

12″ x 12″ Mixed Media on Canvas

The battle is brewing, but it’s only just begun.  The rainbow warriors are ready to fight for their rights to be free like the rest of us under the sun.  We are all just human beings.  How can anyone tell us how to live, who to love and what is really right or wrong?  Live free!  Love the one you want!  Be yourself!

WAR

24″ x 36″ Aerosol on Metal

Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war.  And until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes.  And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war.  And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained… now everywhere is war.  ~ Haile Selassie

JAM BAND  (SOLD)

36″ x 60″ Mixed Media on Aluminum

They’re not in it for the money.  They don’t care if there’s a crowd.  They’re out there in the world.  They play their music loud.  They don’t even have a name, but you can help them out.  If you are so lucky, it’s your title fans will shout.  This isn’t a contest, but I’m open to hearing some cool band names.  I might even change the title of this piece if the name sounds right.

COLOR CHECK

12″ x 12″ Mixed Media on Canvas

Like The Color Marsh, I took this canvas to the studio floor first.  After mushing it into the paint I was left with the colors.  Then I took a grip pad that normal people use to keep their runners in place and laid it over my canvas.  Finally, I sprayed it with some black spray paint for the checkered pattern.

CREEPY CRAYON MELT

12″ x 12″ Crayon on Canvas

Before I made the Crayola Melt I made this one.  Though I like the Crayola Melt I like the Creepy Crayon Melt even more.  These crayons were peeled before I glued them down and I think that is why they slid down the canvas while being melted.  I also used a little spray paint for the black areas.  I’m starting to like things that have a sloppier look to them for some reason.  I would like to try something on a larger scale and maybe have some sort of image in my next melt.

SPLaT

3 COLOR SPLATTER

18″ x 18″ Mixed Media on Omega Bond

3 Color Splatter is a little test I was doing with spray paint that I thought ended up looking kind of cool.  The “canvas” was from a mess up at work and still has vinyl lettering on it.  I was planning to add more to it, but I didn’t want to ruin the mess.

CHoP CHoP

CHOPPED GRAFFITI

18″ x 36″ Aerosol on Corrugated Plastic

After laying down my colors with spray paint there was something I did not like about my picture.  So, while it was still wet I started “chopping” at it with the side of a board to add some lines to it.  There are also texture lines from the corrugated plastic which I think are a cool effect.
