DON’T LET THEM DIE

12″ x 84″ Mixed Media on Closet Door

Don’t let them die. Going to Northampton. Staring at lightning storms. Laying on the beach with the sun in our faces. Don’t let them die. Making art. Writing. Saturday morning coffees, medium-hazelnut-with-caramel swirl and cream. Don’t let them die. Laughing in bed so hard you start snorting. Traveling. Watching movies. Nothing can kill this. I know we won’t let them die. Pass them down and let them live. Pass them down and we will live forever.

JOHNNY

11″ x 15″ Drawing on Watercolor Paper

Johnny was a good manWoman hold her head and cry, ’cause her son had been shot down in the street and died, from a stray bullet.  Woman hold her head and cry. Explaining to her was a passerby, who saw the woman cry. Wondering how can she work it out?  Now she knows that the wages of sin is death, yeah! Gift of Jah is life. She cried, “Ah-um, I – I know! Johnny was a good man, I – I know!  Never did a thing wrong, Johnny was a good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, Good, good, good man”, Johnny was good man, she cried – she crie-ie-ie-ie-ie-ie-ie-ied!

WHAT TIME IS IT

8.5″ x 11″ Sharpie on Water Color Paper

I’ve been carrying my sketch pad around a lot lately.  So, while at Panera Bread I decided to try and draw something in the time it took to finish my coffee.  This bunch of scribbles is what I came up with.  Don’t let the Mookie in the corner fool you, it’s one of my nicknames.  Oh yeah… don’t forget to change your clocks, unless the “world” has already done it for you.
