BAYOU DRIP

36″ x 48″ Crayon on Canvas

If you happened to make it to the Enfield Square event in April then you might have seen this piece while it was being made.  A lot of crayons and a lot of patience went into this one.  What made it even better were all of the smiling faces watching the dripping crayons race down the canvas.  I think there might have been a few new crayon melters born that day.

RED FLOOD

10″ x 12″ Mixed Media on Canvas

The water just kept on rising.  We got to the dock just in time.  It held strong as we stood and watched.  You could see parts of houses, cars and life floating by.  Eventually the water was stained red.  I just closed my eyes and hoped that I was dreaming.

CREEPY CRAYON MELT

12″ x 12″ Crayon on Canvas

Before I made the Crayola Melt I made this one.  Though I like the Crayola Melt I like the Creepy Crayon Melt even more.  These crayons were peeled before I glued them down and I think that is why they slid down the canvas while being melted.  I also used a little spray paint for the black areas.  I’m starting to like things that have a sloppier look to them for some reason.  I would like to try something on a larger scale and maybe have some sort of image in my next melt.

CRAYOLA MELT

12″ x 24″ Mixed Media on Omega Bond

Ah… I opened a brand new box of Crayola Crayons and got ready to make an old school crayon drawing on paper.  The smell of crayons remind me of being 5.  Crayons are where almost every child starts in the art world.  Crayons can be used for more than just drawing.  I was going to draw something, maybe next time.  Melting the crayons down seemed like the right thing to do.
